Cazateatro Bilingual Theatre
Cazateatro is the first bilingual Theatre group in Memphis.
Founded in August of 2006.
The group was formed after a kind of people hunting interested in learn theatre. Giovanna ‘Gio’ Lopez, founder, placed an add “classified” in a local hispanic newspaper looking for them. Gio had no idea if this would work but it did.
Then they had the people but not an adequate space for letting their imaginations fly so they decided to practice in the parks. As the weather of our beautiful city became drastic they had to looking for other options and that was when houses began to open their doors for them.
In remembrance of this colossal way to start they decided to mixing the word 'house' (casa in Spanish) with 'hunting' (caza in Spanish) to give the name to their group: Cazateatro.

Today they give infinite thanks to Latino Memphis that allowed them to use their facilities for continue letting fly their creativity, as well to Caritas Village, The University of Memphis and Hattiloo Theatre. They also acknowledge the unconditional support of their families, friends and community.
Cazateatro offers plays in Spanish and bilingual, for kids and adults. Some of the plays are focussed in preserving and sharing the latino culture.
